Santa Casa (Holy House)" in Loreto, Italy is a cathedral (basilica) that preserves the house where the Virgin Mary and her family lived in Nazareth and is also an important pilgrimage site for the Catholic faith of the Virgin Mary. This CD features works by musicians who served as music directors (ChapelMaster) in the chapel of Santa Casa during the 18th and 19th centuries. Other than Zingarelli, the composers are little known outside of their hometowns, and most are probably world premiere recordings. Although out of the mainstream of Italian music history, these recordings will be an important legacy in unraveling the history of Italian religious music. The singer is Italian Daniela Nuzzoli, who has a solid track record as both a violinist and a singer. Tokyo M-Plus
