The opera "Rodelinda" was originally written by Antonio Salvi based on Corneille's tragedy "Pertalito: King of the Lombards" and adapted by Nicolas Haim. Heim has taken this "dramatic yet complex tale" and made it into one of the most popular productions of its time, with Handel's brilliant music and enhanced dramatics. This piece, which requires a high level of skill and a wide range of expression from its performers, is sung by a wonderful cast of singers, including Sonia Ganassi (soprano), who plays Rodelinda in this production. Hats off also to conductor Diego Fasolis, who brings it all together. Recorded in 2010. (C)RS
