Re-released as a 2-disc set at a single pricePaigello's comedy "Socrates in Fancy" in three acts, from a libretto by Giovanni Battista Lorenzi and Enlightenment scholar Ferdinand Galliani, premiered in October 1775 at Naples' Teatro Nuovo with great success. The opera was first performed at the Teatro Nuovo in Naples in October 1775 and was a great success. The story is about Don Tammaro Promontorio, a man so enamored with ancient philosophy that he believes himself to be Socrates, and the slapstick that ensues when he imitates Socrates' way of life.
