Born the daughter of the concertmaster of the Mainz orchestra, she studied violin with her father until the age of 14. In 1956, she won the first prize at the International Competition of the German Radio in Munich, and made her U.S. debut in Cincinnati on October 19, 1962, under the baton of Max Rudolf. He was a member of the ensembles of George Szell and William Staats. In 1976, he became professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt, Germany, where he taught younger students. This set includes Pyneman's achievements as a soloist in concertos, chamber music, and instrumental music, and is very valuable. The ensemble also includes Jörg Demus (Pf), Walter Kleen (Pf), Moshe Atzmon (conductor), and Karl Muninger (conductor), all of whom are masters of the past and are well worth listening to.
