The National Arts Centre Orchestra of Canada! Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade”! The National Arts Centre Orchestra (NACO), one of Canada’s premier orchestras, and Alexander Shelley, who succeeded Pinchas Zukerman as music director in 2015 and has been actively performing and recording ever since. In this new recording, titled *The Bounds of Our Dreams*, he pairs masterpieces such as Ravel’s *Pavane for a Dead Princess* and Rimsky-Korsakov’s *Scheherazade*. Canadian composer and pianist Alain Lefèvre, one of Analekta’s main artists, contributes Walter Boudreau’s (b. 1947) “Concerto de l’Asile” (“Asylum Concerto”). Walter Boudreau is a Canadian contemporary composer who serves as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Quebec Society for Contemporary Music. Based on a waltz originally composed for the play *L’Asile de la pureté* by Canadian playwright Claude Gervais, a piano version was created at Lefèvre’s request, and the piece was subsequently developed into a concerto; this album marks its world premiere recording.
