Catalonia in the 20th and 21st centuries and Leipzig in the 18th and 19th centuries, the two countries are linked by the Bach album, which vividly recreates the Bach that resonated in the Romantic era. Violinist Jorge Jiménez, who also hails from Catalonia, has paid great tribute to the greatness of this cellist. However, this is not to say that the work was completely neglected before Casals, as Mendelssohn's revival of the Matthew Passion in Leipzig in the 19th century (1841) and the premiere of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto (1844), Ferdinand D'Agostino, were both important figures in the Bach revival of Leipzig. Ferdinand David, who also premiered Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto (1844), arranged the Suite for Solo Cello for violin (1866). The score contains many performance instructions, which was unusual for the time, and is an important document that shows how Bach was received in the Romantic period. The key has been moved up to the 5th perfect 5th degree so that it can be played naturally according to the tuning of the instruments.The original Romantic bow and gut-stringed violin from 1850 are used to play this arrangement at the pitch (A=447 Hz) used by the Gewandhaus orchestra of the time, and the Bach that would have resonated in the 19th century comes vividly to life. The first release in Jimenez's "Rethinking Bach" series is his own arrangement of the Golteberg Variations for violin (PC-10434). This is also a must-see. King International Inc.
