Winner of the 2023 Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition, the debut album by the up-and-coming woodwind quintet Ensemble Astera features Debussy, Nielsen, Psy, and Barber Since their formation in 2019, they have combined the diverse timbres and resonances of their five wind instruments to reach new artistic heights The group is committed to performing to a shared vision of Their performances and their appeal are rich in colorful sound. The highlight of their performance is the work of Psy. Fazil Say (1970-) is a gifted pianist and a highly acclaimed composer. His woodwind quintet, "Allevi Fathers at the Lak Bar," is a four-movement work with a theme based on an exotic melody from his native Turkey, which undergoes a metamorphosis.
