Debut disc by Tanya Hotz, pianist and painter Impressionistic works that make the most of individuality and stimulate visual imagery Tanya Hotz, a pianist with Swiss and Icelandic roots, was born in Haifa, Israel and grew up in the canton of Zug, Switzerland. From an early age, she learned piano from her mother and tried her hand at composition, studying with Madeleine Hoppe-Nussbaumer at the Zug City Conservatory from the age of seven, where she not only studied piano, but also violin, flute, voice, cello, music theory, and composition. She has won prizes in both piano and composition at the Swiss Music Competition for Youth, and studied at the Basel Conservatory with Adrienne Aetiker. She studied composition with Georg Friedrich Haas and improvisation with Rudolf Lutz; she received her bachelor's degree with distinction in 2014 and her master's degree from the University of Music and Theater Munich (2016). She further studied composition and music theory at the University of Music and Arts Vienna, where she studied piano with Liliya Zilberstein. She draws inspiration from nature and also works in the visual arts, such as photography, painting, and poetry, and has developed an interdisciplinary practice that combines music and art.In 2020, she received her Master's degree in Music Education from the University of the Arts Zurich, where she performed Ravel's "Gaspard at Night" and Schumann's "Symphonic Exercises" in a concert combining paintings and poems of her own compositions. She is currently a piano teacher at the Conservatory of Music in Basel. CLAVES

**Returnsv**
