An album that traces the history of Spanish music from the mid-18th century to the mid-20th century through the piano. The Mateo Pérez de Albéniz featured at the beginning of the album is not related by blood to the later Isaac Albéniz. Moving through the late Baroque and Classical periods, music history has been brilliantly illuminated since the mid-19th century by composers such as Isaac Albéniz, Granados, Falla, and Mompou, who clearly articulated a Spanish identity. The pianist, Esté Pineda, is from Catalonia, Spain. She gained attention after being selected as her country’s representative at the 26th UNESCO General Conference in Paris, and has since given recitals at major venues across Europe (including Wigmore Hall, the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Chopin Festival, Les Invalides, and the Palau de la Música Catalana).
