Richard Flury was a Swiss composer and conductor. He studied composition with Josef Marx in Vienna and conducting with Weingartner in Basel. Although he was primarily engaged in teaching and conducting within Switzerland, he was a prolific composer, producing four operas, five symphonies, seven string quartets, 11 violin sonatas, and a vast number of art songs. This album features his late violin sonatas, which are generally written in the Romantic or Modern French style, reminiscent of Brahms and Fauré. Violinist Gilles Corial delivers a heartfelt and affectionate performance, paying sincere tribute to his country’s composer. Tobu Shoji Co., Ltd.
