Juditta" was written by Franz Lehar (1870-1948) at the age of 63, and since he did not compose any more works, this beautiful work became his de facto "swan song". Rehár himself had conceived of "Giuditta" as an authentic opera, and it had the honor of being the first work of his to be premiered at the Vienna State Opera, where the tenor Richard Tauber, who was very popular at the time, sang the passionate "Friends, life is worth living" at the time of his appearance, which strongly attracted the audience. The work is a masterpiece by Nikolai Schubert, who is also a member of the Nikolai Schubert Orchestra. In this production, Nikolai Shukov sings. The story is enhanced by a skilled ensemble of members of the Bavarian Radio Chorus. (C)RS
