Description:
Jadassohn was a German composer, pianist, and music teacher. Of course, today his name is almost unknown. He was born into a Jewish family and graduated from the Leipzig Conservatory, but struggled to find a job. At the age of 40, he finally obtained a position at his alma mater and began teaching piano and composition. He was a gifted music teacher and introduced many composers to the world, including Reznicek, Sinding, Siegfried Kalk-Erlelt, Dilius, and Albeniz, to name a few. Jadassohn's own works, as you can hear here, have established a firm style, but because of the "anti-Jewish" trend that began at the end of the 19th century, they inevitably lost their chance to be performed, and were eventually forgotten.However, these works, which are not at all inferior to those of Carl Reinecke, to whom they are often compared, exude a boundless charm. He is a composer who deserves to be better known. Naxos Japan
