Description:

Composer Meraltin (1875-1937) was born in 1875 in Kaksalmi, near the border with the then Russian Empire. The symphonic poem "Dreaming," composed in 1910, is a large-scale work written for Alexander Giroti. With striking phrases that seem to symbolize Finland, orchestral sounds reminiscent of Richard Strauss, and Debussy-esque harmony, it is a large-scale work that Lintu himself seemed confident in, but it was ultimately forgotten for a long time, until Lintu revived it in Helsinki in 2013. It remained dormant for 81 years until Lintu revived it in Helsinki in 2013. Marjatta" is a vocal piece based on the Kalevala (Finnish folk epic), which shares the same provenance as Sibelius' "Spirit of the Atmosphere" and was also written for the same singer, Aino Akte. The other ballet, "Blue Pearl," was written in 1930, late in his career, and was Finland's first full-length ballet. Here, Lintu and Kyllönen have rearranged it into a suite of eight pieces.
