This is a collection of songs by R. Strauss (1864-1949) sung by the famous Finnish lyric soprano Soylet Isokoski. She has previously sung movingly in a collection of orchestral songs (ODE-982), and this time she is joined by her longtime duo partner, Vitasalo. This time she will perform with her longtime duo partner, Vita-Salo, who herself seems to have a strong attachment to Strauss, saying, "Strauss suits my voice very well. She has chosen a wide range of Strauss' works from his early years to his later years, including famous songs such as "Dedication," "Cetzelier," and "To Tomorrow," as well as "All Souls' Eve" and "Ophelia's Song," and each song is filled with her feelings. The last work, "Aoi," written for Maria Yelitza, a soprano who was a favorite of Strauss, is another masterpiece that expresses the full range of her emotions in a simple piece of music. Naxos Japan
