Christian Tsaharias, born in Germany in 1950, is a pianist with an impressive record of success, including second prize at the Geneva International Music Competition in 1969, second prize at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1973, and first prize at the Paris Ravel Competition in 1975. Since 1976, he has recorded and appeared on television and radio programs, and since 1985 has been the host of "France-Musique". In the 1999/2000 season, he began his career not only as a pianist but also as a conductor.After making his debut in 1992 conducting the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, he has performed with orchestras throughout the world and is currently the principal conductor of the Sinfonica do Porto Casa da Musica in Portugal from 2020, principal guest conductor of the Orquesta de Granada from the 2021/22 season, and He has also been appointed Associate Conductor of the Orchestre de Auvergne and Honorary Conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique National de Jorge Enescu. Tsaharias has made various recordings for MDG, including Mozart's piano concertos, and at the end of 2022 he released Haydn's Piano Sonata Selections (MDG-94022576). This time, he recorded a program centered on J.S. Bach's French Suites. Although the title is not named by Bach himself, this is an elegant and accessible collection of refined music with a French flavor.
