Papadimitriou's music is a fusion of the Mediterranean region, ancient Greek music and European traditions, and contemporary music, full of power and brilliance. The main program of this disc, the "Piano Concerto," is essentially an enjoyment of the ensemble virtuosity of the solo instrument and orchestra, but in the third movement of this work, the overwhelming sound of the orchestra is vividly etched by MDG's high-quality recording, as if the threat of the huge orchestra sometimes dominates and swallows the soloist.
