Recording of Liszt's Complete Organ Works by Zuzana Feljenčíková begins! Czech organist Zuzana Feljenčíková has begun recording Liszt's complete organ works. Liszt was a virtuoso pianist, but he also excelled at the organ, composing and arranging a wide variety of works, from magnificent music that makes use of the organ's large volume and wide tonal range, to quiet, meditative music. Many of Liszt's organ pieces are based on well-known pieces of the time or his own compositions arranged for the organ, and even at the time, they tended to be highly effective in terms of performance. The first piece on this disc is also a work on a theme with Bach's name, using four consecutive notes of "B-A-C-H in B-flat. Prelude and Fugue in the name of Bach (B-A-C-H)" composed for the dedication of the Radegast organ of the Merseburg Cathedral. It was later revised in 1870 as "Fantasy and Fugue in the Name of Bach" for piano.It is a pleasure to hear Zuzana Felenchiková's highly skilled and powerful body of work in its entirety in MDG's high-quality recording.
