Jacob Cooper is a contemporary American musician. Known as an innovative electronic music composer, his works—filled with a whirlwind of fantastical sounds—have already garnered a large following. This album, titled “SilverThreads,” is his debut and features six art songs sung by soprano Melissa Hughes. The album title, “Silver Threads,” is derived from a text by the Japanese poet Matsuo Bashō, and the album features her striking voice accompanied by a unique instrumental backdrop that defies categorization as either progressive or minimalist. The unique sense of floating—distinct from ambient music—and a sense of melancholy are entirely unlike anything else, and they will likely overwhelm you with a terrifyingly powerful presence.
