Tyondai Braxton

Prodigious composer/experimental musician Taiyondai Braxton's 2018 world premiere "TELEKINESIS" is finally available as a studio recording, the latest and greatest example of the sonic and philosophical intersection of orchestra, choir, and electronic instruments under a science fiction theme! The latest and greatest example of the sonic and philosophical intersection of orchestra, choir and electronic instruments under the theme of science fiction. Taiyondai Braxton, the brilliant composer/experimental musician hailed by the Washington Post as "one of the most acclaimed experimental musicians of the past decade. A former member of the well-known experimental rock band BATTLES, he released his distribution-only EP "Dia / Phonolydian" last year on Nonesuch/New Amsterdam. At that time, it was reported that he was working on a studio recording of "TELEKINESIS," which premiered in 2018 and will finally be released. TELEKINESIS was co-commissioned by Southbank Centre London, Musica Nova, and the Helsinki Festival. The world premiere was performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra and BBC Singers at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, UK on April 18, 2018, followed by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Helsinki Festival. Both performances were conducted by German-born Andre De Lidder. TELEKINESIS" is an 87-piece ensemble consisting of electric guitar, orchestra, chorus, and electronic instruments. The first studio-recorded version, now released, features the Metropolis Ensemble under the direction of Andrew Cyr, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus under the direction of Dianne Berkun Menaker, and the chamber choir The Crossing. For Tai Yong Die, this is "the latest and greatest example of the sonic and philosophical intersection of his electronic and notated music.During the recording and production process, he sought to "create an environment where electronic and acoustic instruments could coexist in a place that felt balanced and organic. The orchestra, choir, and electronic instruments were recorded in sections by engineer Ryan Strieber at Oktaven Audio in Mount Vernon, NY from August 2021 to March 2022. This allowed for an ultra-detailed mixdown with Seth Manchester at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, resulting in a studio-recorded mix of the film that (with some exceptions) recreates how the orchestra is arranged in reproduced, and even more exaggerated in its width and the proximity and depth of certain instruments around the listener.
