This is the first solo album in six years by Emily A. Sprague, who is also active as a florist. Set on “Cyano,” a fictional planet that has lost its means of expression and emotional connections, the album depicts a fantastical sonic world that reexamines our relationships with ourselves, others, and the ecosystem. The entire album is constructed using only synthesizers, with no samples or acoustic instruments. While she has primarily released instrumental works to date, this album marks her first time incorporating full-fledged vocals. This album fuses the songwriting skills she honed with Florist with the intuitive and experimental sounds of modular synthesizers, featuring vocals that evoke faint transmissions from a distant planet. It is a delicate and immersive album where approachability and a sense of otherworldliness coexist.
