Description:
Mitrofan Belyaev was a wealthy merchant who was active as a patron of artists in the 19th century Russian Empire. He took over his father's company, a lumber merchant, but eventually chose to patronize musicians, and in 1885 he founded the music publishing company "Belyaev & Co. In 1891, he began holding "LesVendredis-Friday Quartets" concerts in his salon every Friday, in which musicians who had been supported by him performed their works. Belyaev, who was also an excellent violinist, joined in the performance. This album includes the works performed at Les Vendredis. The album includes works by composers who have now been forgotten, but they all leave a strong and unforgettable impression once you hear them. Naxos Japan
