Description:
Asger Hamelik is a Danish composer. He showed musical talent from an early age, studying under Garde and J.P.E. Hartmann, and after going to Germany, he was strongly influenced by Berlioz in his later years. 1871 he was invited to the music school of the Peapoddy Institute in Baltimore, where he composed several symphonies while conducting the orchestra. In 1900, he returned to Denmark, but unfortunately, he was not well received in his native country, and his nearly 100 works have been largely forgotten. This box contains his seven symphonies and requiem. Each symphony is given an interesting subtitle, and is a true Berlioz-like large-scale musical contraption.Each piece is both easy to understand and honestly moving, and you will not be disappointed no matter which piece you listen to first!
