Description:
The Munich Philharmonic's self-recorded Bruckner live performance at St. Florian's Abbey in Linz, Germany, with Valery Gergiev, who assumed the position of Chief Conductor in September 2015, and the Munich Philharmonic, is a combination of profound power, sparkling elegance, and beauty. The music of this new duo has been highly acclaimed for the concentration and urgency with which they have brought out the best in strings, winds, and percussion in response to Gergiev's fiery conducting, which has brought out the best in them. The other symphonies that have already been released are "groundbreaking interpretations that break free from Bruckner's traditional mysticism and religiosity and combine simple beauty and drive. The recording is also highly acclaimed in terms of performance and recording, with "a perfect balance of church reverberation and individual instruments, and a recording that is not at all muddled. The recording was handled by Stephan Reh, a highly acclaimed engineer for labels such as CPO and BIS. Mastering was done by Christoph Stickel, an engineer who has worked on various works by Keith Jarrett, with new mastering under the supervision of ECM. This Seventh is from December 30, 1884. It was premiered in Leipzig on December 30, 1884, under the baton of Nikisch, and it was the work that brought Bruckner's fame to an all-time high. In the second movement, the deep brass sound expresses a mourning for the "revered master" Wagner.Gergiev not only allowed the Munich Philharmonic to demonstrate its unique sound and skill, but also utilized the reverberations of St. Florian's Abbey, demonstrating a penetrating intelligence befitting the music of church and memorial, and approaching the masterpiece with sincerity and without ever relying on the power of the orchestra. The new Bruckner image, with its clarity and superb sense of tempo, was carefully prepared as the last of the Bruckner complete works that have been performed, and is a perfect blend of precision and grandeur.
