Fumagalli's Opera Fantasies! Adolfo Fumagalli (1828-1856) was an Italian genius who was praised as the "Paganini of the piano" for his amazing technique and expressiveness in the mid-19th century, but died of tuberculosis at the young age of 27. His works, which even Franz Liszt recognized as "first-rate," have long been buried in the dark corners of history. This album contains four magnificent "Grand Fantasias for Concert" based on operas by Bellini and Donizetti, which Fumagalli left behind. The famous melodies from Italian operas such as "The Sleepwalker," "Lucia," "The Puritan," and "Norma" have been sublimely transformed from mere arrangements into orchestral sounding pieces with dramatic compositions and extreme virtuosity that are hard to believe they were composed for a single piano. Fumagalli was a pioneer of the left hand's own technique, which is characterized by acrobatic leaps and tremolos over the keyboard, as well as cantabiles full of song. Ferdinando Zuddio, a pianist who has devoted his life to discovering the hidden repertoire of the Romantic period, has brought this "hidden treasure" back to life today through scholarly research and passionate performances that transcend 170 years.Recorded in the historic space of Palazzo Pisani Dossi, this is a rare recording, including a world premiere. Ferdinando Zuzzio is a pianist born in Cosenza, Italy. He studied with Sergio Perticaroli and Benedetto Lupo. He is passionate about the study and performance of Romantic music, especially rare and rarely performed repertoire. Actively taking up works by Fumagalli, Gottschalk, Bortkiewicz, and others, he is highly acclaimed for his performances that combine musicological rigor and bold interpretation, and is currently teaching at the "L.
