Pietro Bertolani, born in 1989, is an Italian prodigy who also works as a composer and arranger. He has made debuts at Italy's major concert halls and theaters, including Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Parco della Musica in Rome, and Teatro Comunale in Florence, as well as the Florence May Music Festival and the MITO Milano-Torino Music Festival. She is a promising Italian pianist who has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Concert Hall of the National Conservatory of Music in Tbilisi. Following the previous album featuring Gershwin's masterpieces, this fourth Da Vinci Classics album features piano works by Ottorino Respighi, a composer known for his Rome Trilogy and who helped revitalize Italian music in the early 20th century. Despite their great musical value, Respighi's piano works are not often performed, even today. In this album, Bertolani presents the "Prelude on Gregorian Chant," dedicated to Alfredo Casella and the first systematic use of Gregorian chant elements in Respighi's music; the "Six Pieces," which shows the influence of Debussy and Liszt; and Respighi's masterful treatment of the piano, The program features various pieces that demonstrate Respighi's mastery of the piano, technique, and sonority, and reaffirms the wonderful originality of Respighi as a composer of piano music. *Recording: December 2024 (Italy) (Tokyo M-Plus)
