The Osaka International Chamber Music Competition & Festa is one of the seven most prestigious chamber music competitions in the world, and the first prize winner of the first division (string quartet) of the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition & Festa 2023, which was held for the first time in six years after the cancellation due to the Corona disaster, was the Italian Quartetto Indaco. The first prize was awarded to the Italian string quartet, "Quartetto Indaco".The ensemble's name "Indaco" means "indigo/indigo," and the jacket is also designed in a beautiful indigo color (photo: in front of Sennichimae shopping street in Osaka!). The jacket is also designed with a beautiful indigo motif. The quartet became the first Italian quartet to win the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, and won two special awards (MK Memorial Society Prize/String Quartet Biennial Amsterdam Prize), as well as the first Italian quartet to win a competition affiliated with the World Federation of International Music Competitions. This was the first time for an Italian quartet to win a competition affiliated with the World Federation of International Music Competitions. Schubert's String Quartet No. 15, which the quartet performed in the competition finals and the Grand Prix Concert, and Webern's "Five Movements," which the quartet performed in the first round of the competition. Also included is an original work by cellist and composer Cosimo Carovani, who is also a member of the quartet. His string quartet No. 10, "In seinem Schatten," named after a passage from Schubert's Lieder "Boden" (from "Winterreise"), is inspired by Schubert's poetic world while maintaining an obviously modern approach.
