Three Piano Sonatas by Filippo Maria Gherardeschi! Filippo Maria Gherardeschi (1738-1808) was one of the foremost Italian musicians of the late 18th century. He had the privilege of studying under the tutelage of the legendary Franciscan friar Father Martini, one of the greatest musicians and musicologists of his time, and later became a member of the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna (an honor reserved for a select elite of musicians), and served as music director at several important music chapels in central Italy. He worked as director of music at several important music chapels in central Italy and was music director at the court of the Archduke of Tuscany, who later became emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This album features three keyboard sonatas that Gherardeschi published during his lifetime and dedicated to Maria Teresa, Archduchess of Austria. These works, along with the famous Requiem he wrote for the funerals of the Etruscan King Louis I of Bourbon, are among Gherardeschi's most acclaimed works.Manuel Malandrini is a Spanish musician who has won numerous awards, including first prize in the concert category of the Bach International Music Competition and third prize in the Amadeus Composition Prize in Vienna, and has extensive experience as a pianist, composer, professor of music theory, and in planning and managing musical events.
