Following Franco Gulli (C00158) and Lazar Bellman (CC00236), Da Vinci Classics' third reissue of previously unreleased live recordings is a collection of Wilhelm Kemp's (1895-1991) famous performances in Milan, Italy. Wilhelm Kemp (1895-1991) was a master of German music from Bach to Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms, especially from the Classical to Romantic periods, and he recorded the complete works four times in Milan in April and October 1978. The live performance of Beethoven's two piano sonatas, "No. 13" and "No. 30," will surely attract a great deal of attention, as the conditions are different from those in the studio. In addition, the three works by Schumann, Chopin, and Schubert that will be recorded other than the two Beethoven pieces are all important repertoire that Kemp has recorded in the studio.These live interpretations and performances, like Beethoven's, are also extremely valuable records left to us by Kemp. The digital remastering of Kemp's previously unreleased recordings in Milan was performed by Davide Ficco, one of the leading Italian guitarists of our time, who has been working as a professional recording engineer in earnest since 1997, and who also won a Record Academy Award for his He has an outstanding record of achievement, including the recording of "Monteverdi: Evening Prayer of the Virgin Mary" (Glossa/OGCD922807) by La Compagnia del Madrigale.
