This is a unique and interesting program of works for "piano four hands" by three great Italian composers, Ottorino Respighi, Gian Francesco Malipiero, and Giuseppe Martucci, whom Ottolino Mira (1910-1988) called "the generation of 1880". Respighi's "Fountains of Rome" and Malipiero's "Armenia" and "Intervals and Silence" were arranged by the composers themselves, while Respighi's "Six Pieces" and Martucci's "Fantasy, Op.8" are original works for piano 4 hands. These three composers, who devoted themselves to the revival of instrumental music in Italy at a time when opera was flourishing, are considered to have done wonderful "work" in their own unique way.Another major point is the participation of Gilda Butta, a famous Italian female pianist who is highly regarded as a Morricone specialist, having participated in the movie "The Pianist on the Sea" and Yo-Yo Ma's hit album "Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone"! Born in Milan to a Bulgarian father and a Bulgarian-Italian mother, she studied under Paul Badura-Skoda. The duo with Victoria Terekiev, who made her name with her debut CD, a collection of Maripiero's piano works, conveys the charm and importance of instrumental works in 19th and early 20th century Italy with a performance full of color and dynamism.
