Description:
2LP release of live recordings for WNEW-FM radio broadcast in 1969! Included the legendary Woodstock show on August 17, 69. Woodstock, the origin of rock festivals, was held in August 1969 and soon shocked the world as one of the "most important events of the 60's" in the history of popular music and subcultures. It has been passed down through the generations as an event that symbolized the American counterculture of the 1960s. The Woodstock Festival was actually held over three days, August 15-18, 1969, on a 600-acre (over 242 hectares) dairy farm in Bethel, Sullivan County, New York, about 50 miles from Woodstock. The event, which was attended by over 400,000 people, featured such distinguished artists as THE BAND, CSN&Y, JOAN BAEZ, GRATEFUL DEAD, JIMI HENDRIX, JANIS JOPLIN, SANTANA, SLY & THE FAMILY STONE, THE WHO, CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL, and JEFFERSON AIRPLANE. The Who finally took the stage around dawn on Sunday, August 17, after a delay of two days, and captured the entirety of their legendary performance, which could be heard in part on the 1979 soundtrack album "THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT". The album is packed with passionate performances by the young band, including "AMAZING JOURNEY"~"SPARKS," in which PETE's guitar explodes, and "SEE ME, FEEL ME," which was included in the movie "Woodstock: Three Days of Love, Peace and Music," and other flashy, action-packed performances.
