The American "Lincoln Trio," which has released four albums on the CEDILLE label, is an ensemble of violin, cello, and piano formed in 2003. The trio has performed at various music festivals and is well known throughout the U.S. and, of course, has toured extensively overseas. The ensemble specializes in contemporary music and has recorded a variety of works, but for this album they have selected works by composers born in England, Armenia, and Switzerland, the countries where each member is originally from. Recorded in 2015, the trio performs three distinctive trios with empathy: Clarke's charming melodies, Babajanian, which Rostropovich praised as "a brilliant work and composer," and Frank Martin's use of an Irish theme.
