Description:

F.P. Zimmermann recorded Stravinsky, Martinů and Bartók with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra led by Frusha! On this album, he performs Stravinsky's Violin Concerto, Bartók's Two Rhapsodies, and Martineau's Concerto Suites with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra led by Jakub Frusha. These three composers, each of whom had established themselves internationally when they wrote these works, did not abandon their Eastern European identities in the West during a period of political turmoil and cultural transition. Stravinsky tested the possibilities of modern violin techniques in his concertos, Martineau combined the sounds of his native Bohemia with the colors of French neoclassicism in his concerto suites, and Bartók incorporated Hungarian and Romanian folk music in his rhapsodies. Stravinsky's concertos have become essential repertoire for the modern virtuoso violinist. Zimmermann re-recorded the work 30 years after its first recording in 1990 with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti. The violin part of this work was composed with the cooperation of Samuel Dushkin (1891-1976), to whom it was dedicated. The violin part was written with the cooperation of Samuel Dushkin (1876-1976), to whom the work was dedicated. The piece requires extreme virtuosity, and the unusual modulations and surprising techniques are the complete opposite of the sweetness of the violin. The final movement, "Capriccio," is played in a variety of techniques, including continuous spiccato, flageolet, and pizzicato. This is a new masterpiece of Zimmermann's music, which shows his current fullness! Not only is the performance excellent, but the instruments are also noteworthy. The violin is Zimmermann's favorite Stradivarius "Lady Inchiquin" made in 1711. This instrument was once owned by Kreisler and has a velvety tone. Please enjoy the performance on Zimmermann's beloved instrument, which he has played with for many years. King International
