The Nash Ensemble, one of Britain's finest virtuoso ensembles, has recorded Harrison Birtwistle's chamber works on SACD hybrid disc.Born in 1934, composer Sir Harrison Birtwistle is one of Britain's leading contemporary composers, having first gained attention with his 1965 composition "Tragoedia. Tragoedia" is highly acclaimed for its combination of classical and contemporary moods, intense violence, and fragile power, and for presenting a new sensibility in British music. The Nash Ensemble, founded in 1964, the same year "Tragoedia" was composed, has recorded Birtwistle's chamber works! The Nash Ensemble is a virtuoso group that serves as the resident chamber ensemble of Wigmore Hall. As a variable ensemble, the Nash Ensemble performs a wide variety of works and compositions, and has given over 300 world premieres. The ensemble has featured Birtwistle's works since its inception and continues to enjoy a very good relationship with him.Many of the commissioned works are the result of this close relationship, and will be performed at a high standard with a high level of content!
