Including the Chaconne! Lute virtuoso Jacob Lindberg plays on a historical instrument in an all-Bach program! The old recording (BIS-587/8) made in 1992 was a 2-CD set of lute pieces numbered BWV, and was released as one of the conclusions of Lindberg's years of research and consideration of Bach's lute works, which are often suspected of being fakes. This long-awaited new recording features a rich selection of Lindberg's arrangements of the Sonata for Solo Violin No. 1, Suite No. 1 for Solo Cello, and the Chaconne. The instrument used is a very rare original historical instrument made by Sixtus Rauwolf around 1590, which was Lindberg's favorite instrument in recent years. When it was first made, it was a 7- or 8-course Renaissance lute with 13 or 15 strings in pairs (only the top string was a single string).In 1715, Leonhard Mausier of Nuremberg replaced the instrument with a new neck and modified it into an 11-course baroque lute for playing German lute music of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The soundboard of the instrument is made of pine from 1418 to 1560, making it the oldest lute in playable condition with the original soundboard. It is a miracle that we can still hear its unique sound in the 21st century. 88 minutes long. King International
