Renowned double bassist Rick Stottin releases an album focusing on the Italian composers Vivaldi and Bottesini! Giovanni Bottesini (1821–1889), nicknamed the “Paganini of the Double Bass.” Stottin has long been convinced that if Vivaldi and Bottesini had been contemporaries, they would have composed many technically demanding and captivating double bass concertos—and this is how the concept for this album was born. The album features a lineup of Dutch virtuosos, including Camerata RCO and Bram van Sambeek. The beauty of Stottin’s playing is, above all, its greatest charm. He has consistently redefined the image of the double bass as merely a continuo instrument, and this album unveils a unique world that only he can create. Rick Stottin (Double Bass) He studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory and the University of Freiburg, and was awarded the Dutch Music Prize in 2013. He has appeared as a guest soloist with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, and the Hague Resident Orchestra, among others. He currently serves as principal double bassist of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra while also teaching as a professor at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf. King International
