Description:

The Norwegian Solistkor, led by Grete Pedersen, recorded choral works by L.P. Hagen, Asheim, and Nordheim! SACD hybrid disc. Since its founding in 1950, the Oslo vocal group Det Norske Solistkor has led the contemporary music scene in Norway and elsewhere with its ambitious program. Pedersen assumed the position of artistic director in 1990, continuing the work of the founding Newstedt. In recent years, since the beginning of their collaboration with the BIS label, the group has continued to record a cappella choral works as well as works with instrumental accompaniment. These include Alfredo Janson's "The Wind Blows As It Pleases" (BIS SA 2341), a collection of works by Alfredo Janson featuring Helge Riehen and other cross-genre players, and Luciano Berio's "Koro" (BIS SA 2391) with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, which both attracted attention and gained popularity. These are all albums that have attracted attention and gained popularity.Lars Petter Hagen's "Lament," the title of the new album, was commissioned by percussionist Hans-Kristian Kjos Sorensen with support from the Norwegian Arts Council. commissioned by Hans-Kristian Kjos Sorensen with the support of the Norwegian Arts Council. Based on a poem written at the age of six by the American poet E. E. Nils Henrik Asheim Nils Henrik Asheim's "Snow" is a "response" to Haydn's "The Four Seasons," in which the chorus sings 18 Sami words related to "snow" such as "ulahat" (a barely visible winter road covered with snow) and "cadgit" (a light, sparse snowflake when snow begins to fall). It is a work for chorus and string orchestra composed as a "response" to Haydn's "The Four Seasons".Composed on commission for the Norwegian Soloist Choir and winner of the 2018 Nordic Music Commission Prize, this recording of J.S. Bach's "Motets" (BIS SA2251) is performed by "Ensemble Allegria Ensemble Allegria". Aurora" was written by Arne Nordheim in 1984 as music for the "In memoriam Cathy Berberian," a memorial service for Cathy Berberian, who had died the previous year. The text is based on the final song of the Divine Comedy, "Dante looks up to God and the light of heaven," and is performed by a chorus, four solo singers, two percussionists, and electronics. The recording was made by freelance player Daniel Paulsen and Terje Viken, Assistant Principal of the Oslo Philharmonic, on percussion. King International
