The enchanting violinist Elena Urioste presents her second BIS album of violin sonatas, "Echoes" (BIS2284). Following "Echoes" (BIS2284), an album of violin sonatas by R. Strauss, BIS presents the second album of violin concertos by the enchanting violinist Elena Urioste, selected by Urioste. The album includes works by Auer, Zimbalist, Heifetz, Milstein, Kreisler, and other leading violinists of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as "Moon River," "When I Fell in Love," and "Over the Rainbow," which Urioste strongly requested to be recorded. The selection includes nostalgic violin masterpieces as well as fresh selections that only Urioste, who hails from the United States, could have come up with. Kreisler's "Praying Woman" is a little-known but very warm and beautiful piece. Mischa Elman performed it as a tribute to Kreisler in her Carnegie Hall recital a few days after Kreisler's death. Urioste plays it with enchanting beauty. The "Hebrew Melody," composed by Akron and arranged by Auer, is a masterpiece known as a favorite of Heifetz and Hasid.Ulioste will perform this ethnically charged work with great feeling. Ulioste studied at the Curtis Institute of Music under Joseph Silverstein. He has also studied with Pamela Frank and Ida Cavafian, and as of 2018 is active in the United States. King International
