Karen Gomei was born in Tokyo in 1982, moved to Montreal at the age of 2, started playing violin at the age of 5, and won the first prize at the Canadian Music Competition at the age of 9. She studied under the renowned teacher Dorothy DeLay and continued her studies at the Juilliard School of Music. She is currently based in the United States, where she is active as a soloist.
