As a young boy, he composed instrumental and chamber music in the classical style, and his exceptional talent soon blossomed. As is evident in the three sonatas from the six quartets recorded here, Rossini's eloquent and beautiful melodies began to emerge in his teens, and he left behind works of great vitality, brilliance, and charm. On the other hand, Hofmeister, who was active in Vienna and composed many instrumental works and operas of the classical school, also presents truly brilliant melodies.
