The strong technique of Andreas Höflinger is mesmerizing. SACD hybrid recording of three piano concertos, including the world premiere recording of Ernst Heflinger's son, Andreas, as well as works by Armand, Ravel, and Bartók! He has been well received for his "Perspectives" series, an original program combining Beethoven's piano sonatas with works by other composers. The album includes the world premiere recording of the Piano Concerto (Grand Toccata) by Dieter Arman, a composer of the same age as Hefliger, Ravel's Piano Concerto for the left hand, and Bartók's Piano Concerto No. 3. Andreas Heflinger studied with Herbert Stessin at the Juilliard School and made his New York debut in 1988 with great success, and later made guest appearances with major orchestras in Europe and the United States, gave solo recitals, and accompanied world-class singers such as Matthias Goerne in lieder. He has also performed with world-class singers such as Matthias Goerne. Armand's remarkable piano concerto (Grand Toccata), dedicated to Hefliger and combining kaleidoscopic shifting colors and superb technique, premiered at the 2019 BBC Proms and has since been performed in Boston, Munich, and Helsinki.This disc contains shows from November 6 and 7, 2019 in Helsinki. Speaking of a sense of color, Ravel! Hefliger sings eloquently and plays with a very high degree of perfection. The final Bartók is a truly outstanding performance.
