Noriko Ogawa's second recording of Satie's complete works for solo piano! Following the first recording (BIS SA 2215 / KKC 5644), which was highly acclaimed by various magazines, here comes the second recording. In 1905, he went to the Schola Cantorum to relearn composition under Dandy. As his fame as a composer grew, he attracted the attention and friendship of prominent artists such as Jean Cocteau and Picasso. He soon created a world of his own and pursued the satirical nature of his themes as well as the uninhibited and unrestrained expression of his pure musical sensibility. Many of his works, such as the "Bumpy Prelude for a Dog," included on this disc, have bizarre titles, and they stir the listener's interest, expanding Satie's unique world.This recording, made in August and September 2015, was a session recording made in the studio of the Tokyo College of Music, where I am currently a visiting professor. The instrument used was an 1890 Erard piano, the same instrument used by Satie when she composed many of her piano pieces.
