The wild tone played on the famous Goffriller. Finland's proud prodigy, Jaakko Kuusisto, finally tackles Bach's complete Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin on this SACD Hybrid disc. Finnish violinist Jaakko Kuusisto (1974-) was concertmaster of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra under the musical direction of Osmo Vänskä, and as of 2018, he is also a conductor and composer.Since August 2018, he is chief conductor of the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded extensively for the BIS label, and as a violinist in The Complete Works of Sibelius, he worked primarily on chamber music, including some pieces that were recorded for the first time. Kuusisto's first solo album in many years is the complete sonatas and partitas for solo violin by J.S. Bach. He says that at age 10, when he was learning the violin, he was given the E major partita as an assignment, and five to six years later, he began playing various fugues as a daily routine. There is something thrilling about the never-ending task of coming to terms with technique, musical expression, and purpose."I was able to understand this because I was able to practice under the guidance of teachers with keen insight. ......I have never heard such beautiful violin music that is so rewarding to play," said Kuusisto, who thanked Ingo Petri, who was in charge of production and recording. The recording session took place at the church in Österlokökel, north of the city of Stockholm, facing the Stockholm archipelago.
