SACD hybrid disc. Masaaki Suzuki has recorded a collection of J.S. Bach’s organ masterpieces, including the Toccata and Fugue! Since founding Bach Collegium Japan in 1990, Masaaki Suzuki has earned a reputation as its music director and a leading authority on Bach’s music; however, this marks his first recording of an album featuring the great Bach organ works in 23 years—since 1991. The album features a lineup of Bach’s organ masterpieces, including the famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565, as well as the Pastorale in F major, BWV 590, the Fantasy in G major, BWV 572, and the Prelude and Fugue in A minor, BWV 548. Furthermore, it is a great pleasure that the recording was made on the renowned organ built by Alp Schnitger at St. Martin’s Church in Groningen, the Netherlands.
