Evgeny Sudobin is the world's most sought-after pianist, with his album of piano concertos by Scriabin and Metonel (BIS SA 2088) winning the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) 2016 in the concerto category. His complete Beethoven piano concerto cycle is finally complete. Having completed the Beethoven symphony series, Vänskä and the Minnesota Orchestra had also begun a project with Sudobin in 2009 for a complete set of piano concertos. The first set (BIS SA 1758), with Nos. 4 and 5, "The Emperor," and the second set (BIS SA 1978), with No. 3 and Mozart's No. 24, have both been well received.The third and final recording is with the Tapiola Sinfonietta and includes Nos. 1 and 2. In this recording, Friedman's technique is unwavering and his touch shines through with an overwhelming brilliance. In the first movement of No. 1, the first movement is arranged more brilliantly based on Friedman's cadenza, and in the third movement, the orchestra performs the same cadenza as the first movement of the second movement, but with a more lively arrangement. In the third movement, he also performs his own cadenza. Please enjoy the one and only Beethoven that can only be expressed by Sudbin, a pianist who has the magic to impress even when playing scales.
