The latest recording of Pettechon's symphonies by Lindberg is Symphony No. 9, composed in 1970, on a SACD hybrid disc with a bonus DVD featuring a rare documentary on Pettechon in his later years. The latest recording in the symphony series by contemporary Swedish composer Alain Pettechon (1911-1980) is Symphony No. 9. This symphony was composed in 1970, two years after he composed his Symphony No. 7, which was successfully performed by Antal Dorati. Nine months after composing No. 9, Pétesson fell ill and was finally hospitalized. Because of his upbringing, Pétesson's music is often violent, as if he had been plunged into darkness, and many of his melodies give one the chills just by listening to them. In this No. 9, too, passages that make us feel screams and suffering appear here and there.The bonus DVD contains a rare documentary film produced by Swedish Television on the composer Pettechon from 1973-78 (subtitles in English). The BIS label has released Pettechon's symphonies Nos. 1 & 2 and No. 6, which have a strong impact and unique addictiveness that is typical of Pettechon. King International
