Baroque Solistene, a promising Norwegian early music ensemble, Makes Its BIS Debut Some 300 years ago, around 1710, London was teeming with energy thanks to impresarios eager to stage the latest Italian operas. In addition to Italian composers such as Corelli, Veracini, and Geminiani, the German composer Handel—who had spent five years in Italy—was also invited to present stylish operas. However, Handel later shifted his style to create distinctly British works such as *Hercules* and *Theodora*. This album showcases that chameleon-like evolution in his style. The Norwegian early music ensemble Baroque Solistene, formed in 2005, and mezzo-soprano Semmingsen create a beautiful musical world. King International
