Faintingly moving! The original theme from "Planet Solaris" can be heard in BCJ on this SACD hybrid disc. 53 of BCJ's cantatas are the three late pieces. The highlight is No. 177, "I Call upon Thee, O Jesus Christ," from which the famous chorale prelude of the same name (BWV 639) is derived from the theme of the finale. The BCJ's performance of the original piece, which was used in Tarkovsky's film "The Planet Solaris," has a special place in the hearts of many fans, and it is a miracle to hear it performed by the BCJ. The performance of No. 97, "Salvation Comes to Us," which uses Isak's "Farewell Innsbruck" as the chorale, is also superb. It is a beautiful piece with Bach's charm in full bloom, and is so beautiful that it almost makes one lose one's mind. King International
