An hour of Komsi's beautiful voice * SACD hybrid disc. Finnish soprano Anu Komsi is at the peak of her powers. Her clear, luminous, and lustrous voice is unique to Scandinavia, and is unmistakably appealing. This album offers a full appreciation of the beauty and virtuosity of coloratura. Glière's concerto, in which he competes with the orchestra by singing vowels without lyrics, is filled with extremely beautiful melodies for a 20th century work. Komusi's singing is full of fantasy, as if the Northern Lights were blazing. In "Ofelia Madness," he sings with the aura of an abominable person, and in the Queen of the Night aria, he sings with the aura of a bad person. Also of interest is John Zorn's 2011 composition for Komsi, "The Machine of Being" (based on Antonin Artaud's original). Sibelius' "Spirit of the Atmosphere" sparkles and shines and is already a thing of beauty. Sakari Oramo is a brilliant matrimonial singer. King International
