Description:
The second recording of the clarinet concerto, "Kegelstadt Trio" with Ansnes and Tamsti, and "Allegro in B-flat major" with J. Jansen! The second recording of the Clarinet Concerto, the "Kegelstadt Trio" with Ansnes & Tamusti, and the Allegro in B-flat major with J. Jansen! The latest album by Martin Fröst, a clarinet prodigy who has released many recordings on the BIS label, is an all-Mozart program! The album features the Clarinet Concerto, his second recording, the Kegelstadt Trio, and the Allegro in B-flat major. The Clarinet Concerto is a work that is very dear to Frest's heart, and this is his second recording, following the recording with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta under the direction of Peter Ungern (BISSA1263). This time, he took up the challenge of conducting with the Deutsche Chamber Philharmonie Bremen, a chamber orchestra based in Bremen, Germany. In this new recording, Frest's technique is outstanding, his tone is brilliant, and his range of musical expression has been expanded, resulting in a performance of exceptional musicality. In addition, the collaboration with the prestigious chamber orchestra provides a beautiful performance that is in harmony with Frest's playing. Furthermore, as the conductor, the clarinet and the orchestra play as if they are close to each other. The basset clarinet used in this concerto is an instrument that extends the low register of the A clarinet to the lowest note of the basset horn, C3, and was restored in 1991 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Mozart's death. The "Kegelstadt Trio" is a trio for piano, clarinet, and viola, composed in Vienna on August 5, 1786. It is said that this unusual arrangement was composed for a group of friends, including the clarinetist Anton Stadler. Note the musicians in this performance! One of the world's leading pianists, Leif Ove Ansnes, plays the piano, and Antoine Tamousti, an accomplished viola player, plays the viola. Ansnes has a very wide repertoire, specializing in many piano solos and concertos, and is also very well known for his chamber music, which he has recorded on the BIS label on an album of Nielsen's chamber works (BIS428). Allegro in B-flat major, K.Anh.91 (516c) is a work in sonata form, written for clarinet and string quartet. The string quartet accompanies the melody of the clarinet throughout. This piece also features an amazing lineup of performers! The lineup is led by the now very popular violinist Janine Jansen, who has often performed with Jansen on chamber music recordings, along with violinist Boris Brovtsin, cellist Torleif Tedene, and viola player Maksim Lissanoff, who is also a familiar face on the BIS label. The result is far beyond our expectations. This performance far exceeds expectations and is sure to become the definitive recording of this piece, and BIS is proud to present this excellent recording. King International
