A Collection of Solo Cantatas Showcasing the Artistry of Sampson and Coey BCJ’s latest release is a collection of solo cantatas for soprano and bass. It allows listeners to fully appreciate the masterful artistry of two great performers: Carolyn Sampson and Peter Coey. No. 82 for soprano was originally written for bass (included in Vol. 38) and has been transposed to E-flat minor for this album, revealing a new charm. In No. 84, which features the oboe prominently, you can enjoy a beautiful performance by Masamitsu Sannomiya. No. 158 for bass is believed to have been pieced together from various sources by an arranger other than Bach himself. The large-scale aria, accompanied by an extremely challenging violin solo, is a highlight. [Comment provided by King International]
